WordPress 2.0 has been released for a while.

I have been asked whether XPress will be upgraded to WordPress 2.0.
The short answer is Yes. — Why not?

The long answer would be: yes, once I get time.

I have been watching the new version of Wordpress, from 1.6 to 2.0 RC and finally 2.0
During the procedure, I ever changed my mind. At first, I fully focused on XPress, trying to make WordPress as the most usable XOOPS blog module. Then, I felt the WP was not well designed/programmed and decided to make a native (fully XOOPS-based) article/blog module, “Article” and planned to switch back to our native module once Xoops 2.2 got stable. Finally, something changed, I also changed my plan: both “Article” and “XPress” will be actively supported.

For those who have been interested in the WordPress 2.0 upgrade, thanks for your interest and sorry for not replying one by one.

I am currently running NobuNobu’s Wordpress ME for Xoops 2.2.3. I am using it in multi-user mode. I am not sure if he is still planning to develop this module, and am considering shifting over to XPress, due to some annoying bugs in the Wordpress ME module on 2.2.3 with security token and invalid session errors.

My first question is whether I can convert my existing WP module over to XPress and not lose any of the blog entries by my users. I know that it’s supposed to automatically convert in single user mode but I haven’t seen anyone comment on what’s involved in moving from multi-user ME to XPress. Also, I have comments from the blog in both WP format and in the Xoops Comment system. I recently shifted to Xoops comments to thwart spammers. The ME anti-spam solutions weren’t working properly on Xoops 2.2.3.

Also, if it were possible to move to XPress and maintain all the users and their entries and comments, does XPress enable a blogroll for all of the users blogs? The ME module has this but I haven’t seen it in the XPress demos. I guess this would be getting the archives block to show by user name. . .

The reference related updates in PHP 4.4/5.1 have introduced “tremendous troubles” in PHP based applications, including our Xoops and WordPress.
As I tested, Xoops core works under PHP 4.4/5.1 with functional completeness. Although not perfect, I would still call it pretty fine!

As for XPress, I have to make a PHP 4.4/5.1 patch, call it XPress 1.52 PHP version (our previous release was moon version, for Moon Festival).

Note: WordPress.org has not made php 4.4/5.1 official patch yet.

when showing recent posts or recent comments and the wordpress sidebar blocks in left panel (configured for:~ pages-yes, links-no, categories -yes, meta- no, Monthly archives-monthly.)

This seemed to be ok in the precious version.

A blog article published by the Xoops plugin

OK, I just upgraded to WordPress 1.5.2 (moon) and there is a <<Previous Entries link at the bottom. However, when you click that 2 times starting with "/modules/wordpress/page/3/" it puts index.php at the end which causes a 404 error "/modules/wordpress/page/3/index.php/". Is there any way around this?
