WordPress 2.2.x?

Apparently the most recent version of Wordpress that works with Xoops is WP 2.05.

I see that the latest version of WP 2.2.1.

Can I just FTP all the appropriate WP files into the Xoops module folder in order to upgrade WP? Or do I have to wait for an Xpress upgrade?

Thanks.

Rick

blog module that works with xoops 2.0.16

Is there a blog module that works with xoops version 2.0.16? I’ve tried about everything, but after I install it and try to go to the admin page of the module, I get a blank screen. If I then go back a page, and then click on modules, it shows up as installed. Yet nothing on it works. Is there ANY module that’ll work with this Xoops version???

THIS IS A PRACTICE

THIS IS A PRACTICE

Two DIV+CSS themes for personal usage

Two XOOPS themes adopted:

Theme blogger
originated from http://code.blogspot.com/
demo at Xoops China

Theme westciv
originated from http://www.westciv.com/

Your are NOT supposed to redistribute any of them.

This is a test blog entry for XPress 2.02 error showing xoops real names instead of display names

This is another test blog entry to deal with my blog displaying real names rather than display names. It turns out the problem is replicated on this blog.

XPress 2.02 defaults to showing xoops ‘realname’ instead of ‘displayname’ or ‘username.’ It should default to show xoops ‘displayname.’ You can see that this is the case on this blog by checking my profile or trying it yourself.

This problem was not present in xpress 1.5.

Wordpress image upload error

This is a test blog. I’m still having problems with the upload function in xpress on 3 different sites on 2 different webhosts and decided to test it here to see if the same problem exists. As it turns out, the error is replicated on this site also.

Regardless of whether you select “using original” or “using thumbnail,” when you send to editor, the code is for the thumbnail, as below. I uploaded this image and sent to editor using original. What we see is the thumbnail. Deleting the cache is a temporary solution as phpp discussed before, but I thought I would point out that the error exists on this site also.

Test post

Just wanna see how this works

Please Help With Xpress

Using xoops 2.2.3a

I want our users to bea able to create XPress blog.

Problem:

Xoops users cannot access wordpress/wp-admin/post.php in order to create blog.

Xoops / and or Wordpress module is_not creating / adding new user id and pass in DB. Instead they recive message when they try to reach wordpress/wp-admin/post.php they recieve message “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”

Did extensive reading to fix problem which led me to
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/53261
led me in the right direction, but not enough info to fix problem.

So from there I access MySQL and go to xoops_wp_usermeta and also xoops_wp_users.

Find that only I and second admin are listed as WordPress Users!

I have tried every setting / permission in Xoops admin an in WordPress module to no avail.

The only way I was able to post a new blog as a reg users was to login from /wordpress/wp-login.php which redirects to
/user.php?xoops_redirect=/wordpress/wp-login.php then when you login from there sends you to modules/wordpress/

and viola reg user can submit blog BUT blog shows up that ADMIN has posted it.

Help please.

Chinese New Year

Happy Chinese New Year of Dog!
By ccjudy from http://xoops.tnc.edu.tw/

Any suggestion for improving the site?

Although this is my personal dev site, it is not a site solely for myself.

Thanks for a user who cares the site I think, he sent a comment critizing that the site is full of junk info and not clear enough.
I was … eh, shocked somewhat, but I have to admit it is true, I did not get time or even had the intention to make it up on purpose.

Anyone could help me make the site comfortable?

Thank you.

Interesting Crack Attempt to Relay Spam — Form Post Hijacking

Anders Brownworth demonstrates an interesting new attack that

Appending a newline character and a few more carefully crafted header lines with a BCC list and a spam message body might trick the underlying mail system into relaying spam for the attacker

which is usually accomplished through not well filtered email address field. Anders also wrote an article for it.

Some Xoops modules are vulnerable to this issue, including the former Official “contact” module, as well as other ones with “refer to a friend” function.
Fortunately, it is simple to fix for Xoops modules by using Xoops function checkEmail($_POST[”email_address_submitted_by_user”]);
Is there anything else I missed?

Added on Sep 19th, 2005
Not check for sure but several modules with potential vulnerability:
1 wfchannel — refer to a friend
2 liase (?)

Moon Festival

Mid-Autumn Festival

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The Mid-Autumn Festival (Chinese: ???; simplified Chinese ???; pinyin: Zh?ngqi?jié; Vietnamese T?t Trung Thu ???; Korean: Ch’us?k or Chuseok ??/??; “Moon Festival” or “Mooncake Festival”) is a popular Chinese celebration of abundance and togetherness, dating back over 3,000 years to China’s Zhou Dynasty.

The Festival falls on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month of the Chinese calendar (usually around mid- or late-September in Gregorian Calendar), a date that parallels the Autumn Equinox of the Western calendar. At this time, the moon is at its fullest and brightest, marking an ideal time to celebrate the abundance of the summer’s harvest, and reminding many of the lore of Chang E (Chinese: ??; pinyin: Cháng’é), the mythical Moon Goddess of Immortality. The traditional food of this festival is the moon cake, of which there are many different varieties.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the two most important holidays in the Chinese calendar (the other being the Chinese Lunar New Year), and is a legal holiday in several countries. Farmers celebrate the end of the summer harvesting season on this date. Traditionally, on this day, Chinese family members and friends will gather to admire the bright mid-autumn harvest moon, and eat moon cakes and pomeloes together. Brightly lit lanterns are often carried around by children. Together with the celebration, there appear some special customs in different parts of the country, such as burning incense, planting Mid-Autumn trees, lighting lanterns on towers, and fire dragon dances. Shops selling mooncakes, before the festival, often display pictures of Chang E, floating to the moon.

A creatively designed site and a funny-named site

Look this! Do NOT blame Xoops for its lack of layout flexibility but think about your creativity.

Check it! I gonna register DRxoobo.com

Edit: After publishing I found too many syntax. If you find more language errors, leave me a message. Thx

A new style of forum system

Lussumo Vanilla, a new style which would give us hints for CBB’s layout design
BTW, Vanilla is also a DokuWiki user.

Meet Vanilla: a new kind of web forum

With Vanilla we wanted to break the mold created and followed by just about every other forum on the web. We sat down and thought about what we liked, and more importantly, what we didn’t like about web forums. We wanted emphasis on the discussions rather than the statistics. We wanted to stop using MSN or AIM to send secret messages to other forum members; We wanted to be able to save the common searches. Basically, we wanted the thing to work for us instead of against us. Most importantly we wanted it to be free and we wanted it to run on just about every web server out there. So, Vanilla is a PHP / MySQL solution that is 100% open-source. You can take it and alter it and use it free of charge. The GPL is your friend.

Here are a few more of Vanilla’s features…
Extensibility

A fully extensible solution, Vanilla comes loaded with extensions, and we’re adding new ones all the time. If you are a programmer, you can create your own, too. If you’re interested in getting involved and making some extensions, read the documentation and join our community forum.
Style

Vanilla has an awesome xhtml setup that allows you to create custom styles, or you can use some of the ones we’ve already created. If you’re a CSS guru, read the documentation and see how to create and submit your own styles.
Internationalization

Vanilla also has a custom language component that allows you to run any language. If we don’t have your language, you should do a translation! Find out how at Lussumo Documentation.
Much, much more…

There is still so much more that we haven’t even touched the surface of. But the best part of Vanilla is that it’s not cluttered with links and buttons you don’t understand. Vanilla is clean and smooth. Simply put: Vanilla is a pleasure to use.

XOOPS Reference

sevak published a wonderful tool: Xoops 2.2 code documentation hosted by xoops.info, using phpxref.

Following sevak, I created a XoopsChina-dedicated XOOPS REFERENCE based on XOOPS 2.2* upto Aug 25th, 2005, including XOOPS core and the module package released to Xoops China:

  • backup
  • calendar (Chinese)
  • digest
  • dokuwiki
  • istats (modified version)
  • CBB
  • wordpress
  • xconv
  • xlanguage
  • xmline

It does eat up a lot of space, surpringly.

Regarding XForge’s link on your blog page

Dear all,

Without asking for permission from you, there is a XForge link put on your blog page by default.

The reason is I wish it would help collect people who have interest in BOTH WordPress and XOOPS to find XForge a good place to discuss WP and XOOPS.
You are free to remove it with no reason (I am serious).

However, I do hope you could keep WP and XOOPS link on your blog page, proudly.
Although it is not required since both are GPL liscensed.

Enjoy XPress !

SimpleTags - A WordPress plugin for generating Technorati tags

SimpleTags, a simple but handy plugin that links WordPress with Technorati , will be packaged into WordPress for XOOPS release.

SimpleTags is a WordPress plugin that will allow you to easily generate Technorati tags at the bottom of your blog entries, like the ones below this post. There are several plugins already available for this purpose, but AFAIK, they all require you to use custom fields within WordPress. The SimpleTags plugin eliminates this need, so you can now easily generate tags with your preferred method of posting, be it by email, a blogging tool like w.bloggar or from WordPress itself.

WordPress Goes to Multiply

Apart from WordPress MU, multi-user version of the famous WordPress, Multiply, a plugin for WordPress 1.5.x which allows multiple blogs by Sam, won “Wordpress Plugin Competition 2005“, Category “Most Outrageous Plugin Prize”.

Multiply is a plugin for WordPress 1.5.x which allows multiple blogs from within the one administration interface. Includes one-click creation of new blogs, with per-blog user permissions, plugins, themes etc.
What's the catch?

* You need to make a few edits to `wp-blog-header.php` if you want to get pingbacks at the new blogs.
* Edit/delete links on posts and comments might not work 100% reliably.
* There may be difficulties with some plugins, but most should work. Plugins which use their own database tables might need to be modified to install correctly.
* If you ever do a WordPress upgrade and run upgrade.php, you'll need to run upgrade-multiply.php as well.*
* Trackbacks don't work without pretty URLs (i.e., if your permalinks look like http://example.com?p=34 you're out of luck) unless you make even more changes to the core. The easiest fix for most people is to switch to pretty URLs.

The next step of WordPress for XOOPS goes to Multiply
